florida's "Minor" Details: The important ones
Getting tattooed or pierced before turning 18 in Florida requires a little extra paperwork. Florida loves sunshine, oranges and notarized consent forms. ☀️🍊📋
Here’s what minors and their parents or legal guardians need to know before visiting Fallen Heroes Tattoo in Florida.
The Rule That Rules Them All: Anyone under 18 receiving a tattoo or piercing must bring a completed, notarized consent form signed by their parent or legal guardian.
Forms are available at the studio and may be taken to any notary. You can also print the appropriate form before your appointment:
Florida Minor Piercing Consent form
Florida Minor Tattoo Consent form
The parent or legal guardian named on the notarized form must accompany the minor to the appointment. Please don’t send Grandma, your cool aunt or your neighbor Steve unless that person is the minor’s documented legal guardian.
Tattoos for Minors:
Minor tattoo clients must be 16 or 17 years old. We do not tattoo anyone under 16—no exceptions, loopholes, persuasive speeches or exceptionally mature vibes.
What to bring:
Both the minor and the parent or legal guardian must bring a valid, government-issued photo ID, such as:
Driver’s license, State-issued identification card, Passport, Other valid government-issued photo identification
If the minor’s photo ID does not show a birth date, bring the minor’s birth certificate as well.
The parent or guardian must also be prepared to provide proof of parenthood or legal guardianship. Depending on the circumstances, this may include a birth certificate, custody paperwork or other guardianship documents.
Notarization at the studio
Taryn may be able to notarize a tattoo consent form at the studio when she is available. Please contact us ahead of time to confirm—do not assume same-day notarization will be available.
In-studio notarization is not available for piercing consent forms.
Tattoo touch-ups
A tattoo touch-up still involves a needle, so a new completed notarized consent form is required for a minor. In short: needle = paperwork. 📋
Piercings for Minors ✨
We do not perform piercings on children under 5 years old.
For children under 10, we strongly encourage scheduling a consultation first. This gives the child, parent and piercer a chance to meet, talk through the process and make sure everyone feels comfortable. A good piercing experience begins before anyone opens a needle.
Age requirements vary depending on the piercing and the individual piercer. Please contact the studio before booking to confirm that the requested piercing can be performed at the minor’s age.
We never perform nipple or genital piercings on anyone under 18. No exceptions.
What to bring
The parent or legal guardian must bring a valid, government-issued photo ID.
Proof of parenthood or legal guardianship may also be required, so please arrive prepared with any applicable guardianship or custody documents. A birth certificate is strongly preferred when the minor does not have government-issued identification.
The parent or legal guardian named on the notarized consent form must accompany the minor to the appointment.
Jewelry changes
A jewelry change does not involve a new piercing, so a notarized consent form is not required.
If a needle will be used, however, the notarized form is required. There’s that rule again: needle = paperwork.
Before You Visit: Requirements can vary based on the minor’s age, the requested service, placement and the piercer or artist performing it. When in doubt, contact the Florida studio before your appointment at 407-507-8072
A quick conversation beforehand can prevent a wasted trip—and spare everyone the heartbreaking experience of being defeated by paperwork. 📋

what's in a name?
A soldier screams into battle 10,000 miles from home, a firefighter carries a child from a burning building, an EMT begs a crash victim to hang on as she tries to save another life, a teacher shares his passion for education and ignites a desire to learn for a young person.
These are our fallen heroes... these cornerstone occupations that have molded the communities that we live in. Those few of us that will step up where others might yield.
As a country, we've turned our focus to athletes and media stars, while the true heroes press on without fanfare or consideration. Not on our watch.
If you are active duty military, a veteran, a police officer, a firefighter, first responder or a teacher, you will always get a discount at Fallen Heroes Tattoo // Art.
From all of us at Fallen Heroes Tattoo // Art, THANK YOU!
